Job responsibilities

Within this role you will support and facilitate clinical learning within Neonatal services which will ultimately enhance the quality of care that the babies & their families receive.

You will facilitate multi-disciplinary and inter-departmental learning and simulation activities, including classroom-based teaching.

You will act as a resource and role model for staff on all aspects of clinical education.

You will have the following qualifications / experience:

Registered Nurse (Adult or Child) or Registered Midwife Qualification Specialist Neonatal Qualified in Speciality qualification First level degree preferable and / or relevant neonatal experience Evidence of mentor / practice assessor / coaching qualification and / or evidenceof supporting learners in clinical practice Evidence of ongoing professional development Neonatal Life Support qualification Experience as a band 5 Qualified in Speciality neonatal nurse Experience of undertaking clinical audit in practice would be an advantage Knowledge of NMC education standards Ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the team

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Adult or Child) on Part 1 of the NMC Register or Registered Midwife
  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree education or equivalent experience
  • Mentoring / coaching / education qualification to postgraduate diploma level or equivalent evidence of supporting learners in practice.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Significant experience within relevant field
  • Neonatal Qualified in Specialty Qualification
  • Neonatal Life Support Qualification
  • Experience of educating others in a formal or informal setting
  • Broad awareness of Trust initiatives/pressures
  • Experience of undertaking clinical audit

Desirable

  • Education at a master’s degree level
  • Further education at a master’s degree level in relevant practice area
  • Leadership qualification or significant equivalent experience
  • Previous Band 6 experience
  • Further evidence of speciality competence
  • Evidence of nursing practice development and management of change
  • Research awareness/experience
  • Stress management or counselling course
  • Knowledge of undergraduate education
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship education
  • Knowledge of current healthcare support worker / nursing associate education
  • Knowledge of the wider healthcare agenda
