Band 5 Chemotherapy Nurse – 37.5hrs, permanent. Monday – Saturday working 4 days

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust provides highly-specialist cancer care for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire.

In June 2020, we opened Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool, our spectacular new cancer hospital in the heart of Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter, providing state-of-the-art facilities as part of a £162m investment. Alongside our flagship hospital in Liverpool, we also have two other main cancer centres:

  • Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Wirral, providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care
  • Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Aintree, our radiotherapy treatment centre

Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside’s district hospitals, we deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic band 5 nurse to work at our CCC – Liverpool site in the Chemotherapy Treatment Unit

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • 1st level registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • In date PIN number with the Nursing and Midwifery Council

Desirable

  • Degree or working towards

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Previous nursing experience
  • Knowledge of various drugs and their interactions and side effects
  • Knowledge of NMC code of conduct

Desirable

  • UKONS SACT Passport
  • NM6 995 Chemotherapy Administration and Care
  • NM6 999 Foundations in Cancer Care
  • NM6 998 Cancer Treatments and Care
  • NM6 996 Chemotherapy Principles and Care

Experience

Essential

  • Previous nursing experience of a hospital setting
  • Previous nursing experience within a medical setting

Desirable

  • Previous Oncology/Haemato-oncology experience
  • Cannulation/Phlebotomy
