We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, motivated staff with excellent communication skills to join our forward thinking dynamic orthopaedic nursing team on Elective Orthopaedics ward 18. Ward 18 is a 15 bedded ring-fenced Elective Orthopaedic ward.

*Applicants must already hold their NMC PIN Number however applications are welcome from student nurses who would initially work as a Senior Healthcare Support Worker until NMC registration is received**
Main duties of the job
The post is an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team which contributes to the effective and economic use of available resources.
The postholder will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and is required to teach junior staff, both qualified and unqualified.
When designated is expected to take charge of a Ward or Department.
To assess, plan, implement and assist with the evaluation of individual programmes of care for the Elective patient undergoing Joint replacements.
Offer advice and support to the patient’s families and friends responding to their individual needs.
Communicate with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate continuity of care.
In pursuing these duties the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution and be familiar with the NHS England Guidance ‘Understanding the new NHS’.

Qualifications
Essential
- Studied to Diploma level or equivalent
- Registered with NMC
Desirable
- Degree in Healthcare/Nursing studies
- Completed 6 months Preceptorship period following registration
- Recognised teaching qualification for example SLIP/ ENB 998D32/D33
- Orthopaedic course and or orthopaedic experience
Experience
Desirable
- Recent, relevant post qualification experience of working in an NHS acute in-patient area
- Recent experience at a band 5 within an acute hospital setting
- orthopaedic experience
