Job summary

We are looking for motivated and dynamic Nursing Support Workers to join our dedicated teams in Bronglais General Hospital. Vacancies are available in the following areas:

  • Ystwyth – Stroke and frailty
  • Ceredig – emergency surgical / orthopaedic
  • Rhiannon – elective surgical / orthopaedic
  • EUCC – Emergency and Urgent Care Centre

Main duties of the job

There is an opportunity to learn new skills andgain further experience in caring for acutely unwell patientswhile developing professionally within a positive and challenging environment.This role will require you to undertake delegated clinical observations and to communicate effectively.

The unit operates a variety of shift patterns to suit service requirements including days/night rotation.

Welsh Language Level 1 is essential for this role. The Level 1 requirement in our Welsh language matrix is;

  • Pronounce Welsh words, place names, department names, etc.
  • Greet and understand a greeting.
  • Use basic every day words and phrases, e.g. thank you, please, excuse me, etc.
  • Understand / pass on simple verbal requests of a routine / familiar / predictable kind using simple language, e.g. ‘May I speak to…’.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject Or Equivalent experience and can evidence work based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge, and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and worked based training/short courses
  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW)
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within a relevant heath or social care environment, providing direct patient care

Desirable

  • Experience of working with patient groups relevant to area of practice
  • Experience of working within the NHS

Skills and Attributes

Essential

  • Welsh speaker (Level 1)
