Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for registered nurses who are looking to develop their nursing career to join Mercer Ward at Maidstone Hospital as a Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse.

We are a 26 mixed bedded Elderly Care Ward – you will be supported through your journey by other Band 6 staff members, the Ward Manager and the multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic nurse with an interest in developing their leadership skills to join our existing team. We welcome applications from nurses that have at least 2 years acute hospital experience at a band 5 level, and with a keen interest in elderly care and the development of their professional nursing career.

Main duties of the job

Outstanding communication skills, ability to lead and support the team along with use ofinitiative is essential within the role as is the desire to deliver safe and compassionate patient care.

Support of the clinical education team and a competency based induction program are available.

Internal rotation to night duty and a mixture of long days and short shifts are worked.
