Job summary
We are looking to recruit experienced nurses to be core members of our multi-disciplinary teams, participating in the provision of on-going assessments, care planning, risk assessments, while supporting service users at all stages of their recovery journeys
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as a non-medical prescriber in the delivery of effective treatments to drug and alcohol service users. The post holder will carry out initial assessments and help deliver opiate substitute treatment for stabilisation and community detoxification. The post holder will be involved in alcohol community detoxes and provide other relevant support interventions to service user who use a range of substances. To support the delivery of specialist health clinics such as lung, liver, BBV testing, and the training and distribution of Naloxone.
Job responsibilities
- To work as a non-medical prescriber in the delivery of effective treatments to drug and alcohol service users.
- Carry out initial assessments and help deliver opiate substitute treatment for stabilisation and community detoxification.
- The post holder will be involved in alcohol community detoxes and provide other relevant support interventions to service user who use a range of substances.
- To support the delivery of specialist health clinics such as lung, liver, BBV testing, and the training and distribution of Naloxone.
- To support the management team in the development of staff members across the teams to ensure high standard of client care.
- To take responsibility for the management of a defined caseload of clients with complex needs.
- To complete accurate risk assessments of all patients and escalate relevant concerns in line with Trust policy.
- To facilitate addictions training and other elements of front-line service delivery where required
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Qualified Mental Health nurse or Learning Disability Nurse registered with the NMC
- Professional registration appropriate to own discipline
- A non-medical prescribing qualification
Desirable
- Management qualification or relevant experience at senior level
- Qualification in relevant area of practice eg dual diagnosis, substance misuse, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with and assessing service users with complex presentations
- Experience of working as a non-medical prescriber
- Experience of developing and delivering a range of interventions to clients
- Experience of providing training and education diverse audiences
Desirable
- Working clinically within a substance misuse team

- Highly developed assessment skills, able to assess service users with complex presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being able to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to work autonomously and prioritise work.
- IT literate and the ability to produce high quality reports.
- Conflict management skills
- Ability to build effective working relationships
Desirable
- Advanced computer skills and use of spread sheets, knowledge of the EPJS software
