Job summary
Digital transformation is at the heart of the UHB’s plans for delivering ‘CTM 2030’ Strategy. The UHB has set out its ambitions in the digital strategy that identifies a Digital Roadmap for Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB). This will enable the UHB to shape its digital agenda in the coming years, and contribute to the transformation of health services and improve patient experience, safety and outcomes.
The Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) is a core member of both the Digital & Data Clinical Team and the Corporate Nursing Team, clinically accountable to CTMUHB providing nursing leadership and expert advice relating to the UHB’s digital transformation programme.
As a transformational leader with exemplary clinical credibility, the CNIO will support the Assistant Director for Digital Transformation and the Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) by providing senior nursing leadership to the UHB’s digital transformation programme.

Proactively anticipate, interpret and consider the impact of national and local policy on the professions and support the Executive Director for Nursing and the CCIO to develop the UHB response, leading implementation as required across the UHB including leading the development of policy and practice where there is no precedent.
Act as an independent clinical lead for the development and delivery of a Clinical Informatics and digital patient safety strategy across CTMUHB and act as a lead advisory consultant on digital patient safety and risk management to the Information Governance Committee.
Lead the digital agenda as it applies to Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals.
Participate in the governance and development of the UHBs Digital Health Record and lead the governance of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional (AHP) digital transformation.
Responsible for collaborating with nursing leadership and staff at all levels, regarding clinical workflow to ensure successful implementation of technology that benefits patient care and achieves expected outcomes.
Contribute to the strategic leadership of digital transformation, realising the full capabilities of clinical, corporate and research systems.
Work closely with Directors of Nursing and the Corporate Nursing Team

Qualifications
Essential
- Professional Clinical Qualification. Educated to Master’s level or evidence of skills, knowledge and experience to equivalency. Leadership and Management qualification. Post registration Informatics/Information Management/Digital Leadership qualification/certification. Knowledge of leading significant change, delivering tangible and sustained benefits. Knowledge and understanding of the key issues facing the NHS. Evidence of recent professional development.
Experience
Essential
- Extensive experience of working at a senior level and acting as an interface between clinical, managerial, operational and digital colleagues. Experience in managing and delivering change successfully. Significant experience and understanding of the value that digital technology and information brings to improving quality of care outcomes and efficiency. Experience in developing clinical teams. Experience in working with national programmes. Experience of managing and resolving conflict across professional and organisational boundaries.
