An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated Scrub Nurse / Scrub Practitioners to undertake a position within the Operating Theatre Department at the Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust where we are committed to providing high quality care to our patients. Ideally, we are seeking experienced individuals with Orthopaedic or Emergency Theatre Scrub experience to join our existing team however consideration will be given to candidates who have expressed an interest in training in a theatre scrub role.

Main duties of the job

You will initially be allocated to a surgical speciality team within the theatre department with a view to eventually rotating to other specialities to gain experience and increase your skills, knowledge and versatility.

The Countess of Chester Theatre Department consists of 2 areas. Main Theatre and Jubilee Day Surgery Theatre.

Main Theatres has 11 operating theatres + recovery. The Jubilee Day Case Theatres consists of 4 general anaesthetic theatres, 1 local anaesthetic theatre and 1 minor procedure theatre which is situated in the Outpatient Department. The surgical specialities covered are General, Urology, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic (elective and trauma), ENT, Plastics, Dental, Ophthalmic and Vascular and a 24 hour emergency service.

The Countess of Chester is a teaching hospital with links to Chester, Edge Hill, Bolton and Stafford Universities bringing nursing, ODP and Band 4 Scrub trainees into the department.
