Job summary
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full time Band 4 Dental Nurse in Community Dental Services based at Shrewsbury Dental clinic in Inner North East London (INEL).
We are seeking to appoint someone who is passionate about delivering a high-quality standard of care to our patients across London borough of Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham.
The range of services includes Sedation, Special Care Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry, Domiciliary care, Bariatric and Dental Mobile service (Homeless/Medium secure unit) You will need to be able to work in a very busy environment whilst remaining calm and be able to demonstrate a good understand of and commitment to delivering excellent standards of care. A Team Leader with specific responsibility for providing chair side Dental Nursing for special care group of patients in clinical setting and on outreach. Whilst the post will be based at an agreed clinic the role is peripatetic and will involve covering at all dental sites in INEL.

Main duties of the job
You will be delivering high quality customer services to patients and visitors. Providing chair side assistance, visiting patients in the community (domiciliary, Homeless centres and the medium secure unit in mobile dental unit) covering reception and supporting the entire dental team.
o Organisation of the dental kits and materials for Domiciliary dental visit
o Undertake specific roles as and when directed by the Dental Nurse team leader to support the day to day running of the clinics, implementing service initiatives/developments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards including, but not limited to, CQC, Dental Practice Inspections, Standard Operating Procedures, Health & Safety Risk Assessment etc.
o Dental Nurse to ensure standardised practices across all sites.
o You will need to be able to demonstrate strong leadership, with the ability to work independently, proactively and under pressure.

Qualification
Essential
- A Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) Level 3 in Oral Health/ Dental Nursing. This could be an NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship, BTEC or equivalent international qualification in healthcare
- In addition you will also have Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/ GCSE grade A-C/ 4-9 or equivalent in English and Maths)
- You will be a registered health care professional with the General Dental Council.
Desirable
- Experience of radiology and a qualification in RA/IV would be advantageous but not essential.
Knowledge
Essential
- You will need to be able to be able to use IT systems and databases.
- You will need to be able to remain professional, work well under pressure and organise your own work in order to prioritise care delivery in line with trust policies and procedures.
- Having an awareness of developments within the NHS would be an advantage.
- You will have knowledge of up to date clinical practice by using up- to- date skills and adhering to evidence-based procedures and clinical effectiveness frameworks. You will fully understand the role and remit of a Dental Nurse.
