Job summary

The enthusiastic nursing team are very caring, friendly, and compassionate and provide a high standard of nursing care.

We are looking to recruit to the post a staff nurse at band 5 to join our existing team . This is an exciting opportunity for either an experienced gastroenterology nurse or a registered nurse looking to expand their practice as training will be given. PIU is fast paced and a varied clinic setting, providing the candidate with plenty of opportunities to gain and build on clinical skills and share knowledge gained in previous areas. The position involves working Monday- Friday. Training and career development will be available.

The ideal candidate will have recent experience of working within the outpatient clinical setting. They will have experience of caring for Medical Day Unit (MDU) patients requiring interventions radiologically. The ideal candidate will have gained the relevant skills for venepuncture, cannulation, ECG and intravenous administrations. The ideal candidate will be required to demonstrate all of the above, alongside excellent communication skills.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a consistently high standard of nursing care that meets the individual needs of our patients and those of the Trust The post holder will demonstrate clinical expertise in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care that puts patients at the centre of this approach. The post holder will be expected to have the required management and facilitation skills that allows them to supervise the activity of other staff in the clinical setting, promote and facilitate a supportive and learning environment. The post holder may, on occasions, be required to assume responsibility department in the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse As a Registered Nurse the post holder is expected to consistently act in accordance with the NMC Code.

Qualification

Essential

  • Currently live on the NMC Register
  • Degree level nursing or equivalent

  • Nursing mentor live on NMC register
