Job summary
The Morecambe Bay Respiratory Network in conjunction with the Community Respiratory Service, have secured funding until April 2026, to trial a number of new services across Morecambe Bay, including (but not limited to) integrated MDT clinical pathways for chronic respiratory disease management, additional localised pulmonary rehabilitation programs, and specialist home rehabilitation and support, for people with respiratory disease living with high symptom burden who are at high risk of deterioration and urgent care use.We have up to 1 remaining WTE Nursing post available to support our new Advanced Respiratory Care at Home service across the Bay. This role offers you a permanent contract with our Trust (UHMBT), and a role aligned with the Community Respiratory Service until 31st March 2026. Further funding for us to continue these Respiratory services beyond April 2026, will be dependent on the success of this trial period. Main duties of the job
To provide thorough, holistic assessments, clinical examination and co-ordination and delivery of specialist clinical care interventions to patients, to support the palliative care of respiratory symptoms and chronic respiratory disease.
To work closely with the MBRN teams and wider MDT to improve palliative care of respiratory disease across Morecambe Bay.
To work closely with UHMBT hospital and community service to support timely and safe discharge from hospitals for those in the end stages of their respiratory disease, to ensure appropriate high quality palliative care and enable patient choice for preferred place of care.
To work closely with the MBRN support staff and other members of the ‘high risk’ service to measure, audit and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the service, at the patient and system level, engaging in a cycle of continuous service improvement.
To provide clinical leadership, supervision and training to the MBRN and wider MDT to support an overall improvement in Palliative care in Chronic Respiratory Disease across Morecambe Bay.
Qualifications
Essential
- Nursing degree
- Palliative care qualification
- Evidence of recent specialist training or experiential competence in Palliative care or Respiratory

- Advanced knowledge in a relevant specialist field
- Demonstrable advanced clinical skills [assessment, examination, clinical care and treatment]
- Demonstrates high levels of clinical reasoning
- Leadership / Management experience

- Can travel independently across Morecambe Bay
- Recent clinical experience in the NHS or a UK hospice
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and good understanding for this role and the new high risk service
