An exciting opportunity has arisen within the West Cumberland Hospital to recruit a band 5 registered nurse on the Loweswater Suite to cover a 12 month maternity leave
The Loweswater Suite is a 4 bedded palliative care unit specializing in both symptomatic and end of life care. The high ratio of patient to staff allows us to provide individualized patient and family care. We are looking for a forward thinking, motivated and flexible individual to work as part of our palliative care team alongside other members of the specialized MDT. The post holder will be delivering palliative nursing care over a 24 hour period working shift patterns of days , nights, bank holidays and weekends.
The applicant should ideally have previous post registration with some palliative care experience and able to work independently with support from clinical nurse specialists and medical team.
The successful candidate should be motivated and enthusiastic about delivering holistic care to the patients and a desire to develop their knowledge and skills in discharge processes and supporting patients through education and lifestyle choices.
Main duties of the job
To work as an experienced Registered Nurse responsible and accountable in the assessment , planning ,delivery and evaluation of nursing care , including patients with complex conditions related to palliative and end of life care.
contribute to complex discharge planning including fast track
Contribute to the continued development of the ward philosophy , including use of appropriate pathways.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate and give examples of their experience within their supporting information relating to the essential criteria outlined on the job description. Training will be given to the successful candidate if required.
The hours to be offered are on rotation /these will be 12-hour shifts including weekends, bank holidays and nights and are subject to change for service need.

Qualifications
Essential
- Level 1 registered nursing qualifications
- Level 2 Enrolled Nurse must demonstrate equivalent experience
Desirable
- Post registration qualification in teaching/assessing (ENB 998/NST 307)
- Post registration qualification in Acute/Chronic Disease Management
- Nurse Prescribing
