Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced SCPHN School Nurse to join the Swansea Bay School Nursing & Looked After Children service as a Practice Development Nurse.

The post is for 30 hours per week and will be based at Gorseinon Hospital. although the base can be discussed further for the successful applicant.

Main duties of the job

The role of the practice development nurse within the School Nursing & Looked After Children service will be to recognise, develop, implement and work alongside the Lead Nurse and Operational Team Managers to facilitate diverse training in line with the relevant local and national policies, agendas and frameworks to meet the needs of the children and young people across Swansea Bay University Health Board.

o Establish links with Local and National Forums and Groups. Work alongside education leads to access funding opportunities for theworkforce and support facilitation of placements for Pre-Registration students and Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SchoolNurse) students.

o Participate in audits and research to identify areas for quality improvement, developing learning packages to facilitate improvements,acting as a change agent to ensure the best care is delivered.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse on part one of the NMC register, with relevant experience at level 6.
  • Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (School Nurse) qualification.
  • MSc / level 7 equivalent short courses / or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Practice Assessor/ Supervisor course.

Desirable

  • Post registration Leadership and Management qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant post registration experience as a SCPHN (School Nurse).
  • Evidence of leading teams.

Desirable

  • Involvement in service development and quality initiatives.
