Main duties of the job

Main duties include:

  • Assess the care needs of patients and develop a programme of evidence based practice care which is evaluated and amended as appropriate without direct supervision.
  • To maintain clinical competence through CPD and mandatory training requirements.
  • To ensure clear and timely record keeping of all assessments and care provided.
  • Maintain good communication with patients and their relatives including the MDT.
  • Utilise, maintain and understand NUH evidence based policies and guidelines to ensure safety of care.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC Adult registered nurse with PIN / completing study within 6 months awaiting PIN- newly qualified nurse

Experience

Essential

  • Delivering care to a group of patients
  • Supervision of non registered staff and students
  • Competent in medicines management

Communication

Essential

  • Demonstration of effective written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrate IT skills

Desirable

  • Well written and presented application form

Planning and organisational skills

  • Ability to prioritise care and own workload
  • Ability to respond to change in needs

Physical skills

  • Able to use medical equipment
  • Able to undertake manual handling procedures
