Job summary
Suitable post for an experienced registered nurse with established clinical skills and a wish to further develop specialist clinical skills and knowledge as an independent practitioner
To deliver a quality of service matching clinical need to available resources within the focus of specialist nursing practice:
Must have independent one stop experience.
To ensure that the patient is the central focus of a streamlined patient journey ensuring optimal quality of care.
Working as a nurse practitioner, provide a prompt response to calls from colleagues, prioritising importance and clinical need.
Manage own caseload to include assessment, investigation, diagnosis and treatment within defined parameters and training.
Provide immediate care management of patient including communication of plan to patients and significant others.
Review and refer to appropriate person, e.g. AHP, resident medical staff, specialist registrar or critical care outreach team.
Liaising with Patient Services Coordinator where necessary.
Communicate within multidisciplinary team, ward/departmental staff and/or out of hours team.
Provide specialist education and training to departmental nursing s.

Extensive post registration experience, some of which will be at a senior level within the required specialist area of practice.
Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
Able to work independently and across disciplines as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.Evidence of good communication and interpersonal skills including effective report writing
Meets Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements for mentorship if relevant to role.
Effective organisation and time management skills
Change management skills and involvement in project work.
Knowledge and understanding of relevant NHS policy or project specific policy context.
Evidence of effective leadership skills/knowledge e.g. Leadership course (LEO).
Good IT skills.
Research or audit experience.
Knowledge and experience of adult/child safeguarding

- Acknowledge and accommodate barriers to communication and understanding including speech, hearing, language and emotion (persuasion may be required), e.g. using interpreters/language line as required.
- Provide specialist advice to a range of health care professionals within the scope of specialist practice.
- Provide expert clinical advice, within the scope of own specialist practice and support to the multidisciplinary team.
- Liaise with other nursing staff and members of the multidisciplinary team in order to achieve optimum levels of care in relation to specialised area of practice.
- Compiles comprehensive medical and nursing records in accordance with Trust guidelines and NMC standards.
