The Liaison Psychiatry service based at Kings Mill hospital is offering substantive Band 6 Liaison Nurse posts for an organised, highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals who has excellent communication skills, a flexible approach to work and are committed to working with patients aged 18 and over. This role will involve working across both teams – which will include working age and older age adults

This post is open to both experienced Nurses who are already operating at a band 6 level or above and experienced band 5 Nurses who will be supported into a band 6 position during induction process.

Main duties of the job

The Liaison Psychiatry service for seeks to deliver a comprehensive, integrated liaison psychiatry service for people over the age 18 in all departments of Kings Mill Hospital. The older age service covers Newark General and Mansfield and Ashfield Community Hospitals. It provides a year round proactive supportive service to our acute colleagues to facilitate the best possible care to those presenting with mental health conditions such as dementia, acute confusion and delirium.

The focus of our work includes urgent assessments in respect of self harm and mental health emergencies, advice and support to wards in respect of patients experiencing mental health problems and also work in areas such as Medically Unexplained Symptoms.

A core requirement of our service is to provide training and education to our acute hospital colleagues and it is expected that the successful applicant will take an active role in this.
