Princess Street Surgery is a friendly and patient-focused GP practice committed to delivering high-quality primary care services to a diverse patient population. The Practice Nurse will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing evidence-based nursing care, health promotion, chronic disease management, and preventative healthcare services. The post holder will work collaboratively with GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Healthcare Assistants, Pharmacists, and the wider practice team to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate patient care.We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse who shares our commitment to delivering outstanding patient care and who will thrive in a friendly, community-focused practice environment. Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
Chronic Disease Management
Support patients in self-management and lifestyle modification to improve health outcomes.
Monitor and review patients in accordance with local and national clinical guidelines.
Immunisations and Vaccinations
Administer adult and childhood immunisations in accordance with national guidance and practice protocols.
Undertake Baby Clinic sessions, including routine childhood vaccination programmes.
Conduct travel health assessments and provide appropriate travel vaccinations and advice.
Ensure the safe storage, handling, stock control, and cold chain maintenance of vaccines and medications.
Women’s Health and Family Planning
Provide women’s health services, including family planning and contraceptive advice.
Perform cervical cytology screening in line with national screening programmes and best practice guidelines.
Wound Care and Clinical Procedures
Assess and manage acute and chronic wounds using evidence-based practice.
Provide wound dressings and ongoing wound care management.
Monitor patients receiving anticoagulation therapy, including Warfarin monitoring, in accordance with practice protocols.
Health Promotion
Deliver health promotion and lifestyle advice on topics such as smoking cessation, healthy eating, weight management, alcohol consumption, and physical activity.
Support public health initiatives and national health campaigns.

Qualifications
Essential
- BSc (Hons) in Nursing or an approved diploma and maintain active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Desirable
- Chronic Disease Diplomas
- Woman’s Health Certificate
Experience
Essential
- Willingness to learn and acquire new skills.
- Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the NHS.
- Evidence of appropriate knowledge base.
- Demonstrate an understanding of audit.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Understanding of health and safety issues.
Desirable
- Experience of working in primary care
