Job summary
We currently have opportunities to join the Nursing Bank within
Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust as a RN. In particular we are looking for BANK staff to work as and when required often at short notice atBand 5 level in COLCHESTER, North Essex. If you have previous experience of working with Service Users within a Learning Disabilities background, we would like to hear from you. All roles with the Bank are ad hoc (as and when) and therefore in particular may suit those already working part-time, with other commitments, or who want to work on a short-term basis. We can support Bank staff migration into a permanent role where there are vacancies.HPFT provides support for service users with mental health, learning disability and children’s and adolescent mental health problems. Applicants should have some experience of working in a healthcare setting particularly within learning disability services.
All applicants need to hold a valid NMC Statement of Entry and should have completed Preceptorship and can evidence this.
Job responsibilities
The post holder will:
Work as a registered nurse with a special interest in Learning Disability, Autism and mental health wellbeing for people with learning disabilities.
Have a key role in ensuring the smooth running and co-ordination of the shift.
Be responsible for maintaining clinical standards under the direction of the charge nurses and team leader.
Work in liaison with service users, carers, other professionals and co-operatively with other services, ensuring the delivery of a needs-led service.
Work as part of the Trust shift rota across a 24-hour shift pattern.
Carry out and advocate professional specific interventions.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/TRAINING
Essential
- Relevant Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Demonstrable commitment to ongoing training and development.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- Experiencing of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care according to assessed need using person-centered approaches.
- Experience of working with people with learning disabilities or complex health needs.
- Experience of using assessment and screening tools to support analysis and make formulations and recommendations based on this.
SKILLS
Essential
- Competent IT skills and an ability to adapt to various systems.
PHYSICAL SKILLS
Essential
- Car Driver and have access to their own car
- Able to work long days and night shifts.
