Job summary

The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development,implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care with the multidisciplinary teamand patients’ families.As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse you will be required to support the senior and juniorteam in ensuring the needs of our patients are met through the delivery of high-qualitycare. The role involves working as part of a large multidisciplinary team including theED medical team, clinical practice educators safeguarding, mental health liaison teamand clinical specialties. The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse works clinically includingunsocial hours and will be expected to work competently in all areas of PaediatricEmergency Department as well as being able to independently take charge of them.The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will assist their Team leader with managing their ownteam of nurses and ensuring they meet their potential. You will be activity involved inretention and recruitment. You will also be responsible for link roles giving you theopportunity to drive change and improve standards.We are looking for an inspirational nurse who enjoys teamwork and making adifference to the team and the patients.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to appoint passionate, enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic Band 6 children’s Nurses who are ready to take the next step to develop their leadership and management skills. Our department has an integrated Urgent Care Centre and Adult Emergency Department. Barnet ED also has Advanced Care practitioners working alongside the ED medical Team and supporting the Nursing staff. Furthermore we are a Trauma Unit receiving trauma patients from across Hertfordshire and North London. We are a busy unit receiving up to 90 ambulances per day and over 120,000 patients per year. We pride ourselves on our high quality, safe and effective care. Training and support for all staff is key to a happy team and safe patient care, this is why we have a clinical practice education team dedicated to the development of our nurses. We are committed to developing and supporting a modern career framework for our nurses in the Emergency Department.
